11
But then I recall all you have done, O Lord; I remember your wonderful deeds of
long ago.
12 They are constantly in my thoughts. I cannot stop thinking about
your mighty works.
Psalm
77:12 (NLT)
Most
of the following events happened several years ago…
I
was cleaning my room one day and had climbed up to rid the ceiling of cobwebs. I
got close to the middle of the room and started hearing a thump on the ceiling. I
began to look for the source of the sound only to discover the ceiling fan was
hitting against my forearm as my left hand was supporting my weight while I cleaned
with my right. How my forearm wasn’t gashed remains a mystery to me...
On
three occasions, I would have lost my eyesight:
I
was adjusting the cymbal for a drummer and he struck the cymbal. The cymbal hit
me in the face between my eyes and I bled. I still bear the mark…
On
another occasion, I was walking to my hostel in secondary school and a tree branch
hanging low, cut me just below my left eye. I shuddered at the thought of what
would have happened if I was any shorter than I was then…
Lastly,
I was trying to start a generator and the lever
came loose while in motion, hitting me on the left side of my head close to the eye socket. The
impact was so intense that I had a headache almost immediately…
I
was clearing a bed and as I picked up a piece of cloth, I began to hear a clink on the floor. It sounded twice but I didn’t know what it was. I moved the piece
of cloth away and looked down to see a light bulb about returning head first to hit the ground
THE THIRD TIME. I’m not sure which one was more shocking to me; how I caught it
before it hit the ground a third time or how it didn’t break the first two
times when it had hit a concrete floor…
We were in school and while reading outside, another student was playing on the desk. He missed his step and fell towards me. I had a ballpoint pen in my mouth and the impact drove it into my jaw. I removed the pen but tried to remove the cover to no avail. It locked my jaw and I could not close my mouth. Blood and saliva kept gushing out and it took the use of something like pliers to remove the cover. As it was being pulled out, I was hearing a sound like many tiny wires snapping…
On two occasions, I impaled my foot. The healing happened so quickly that days after, I struggled to remember which foot it was...
I
was headed home from college and while in the bus, I fell asleep; I was seated behind
the driver. All of a sudden, I woke up to see the driver’s seat coming towards
me; we were in an accident. Out of reflex, I curled up to brace for impact and
amidst the loud clanging and banging, I heard my voice saying within me “I just
know I am covered by the blood of Jesus”. After I heard these words in my spirit, I
was unperturbed and only waited for the car to come to a stop so I could come out
of it. I came out through what I thought was the door until I walked away and saw
that it was where the windshield used to be. I had the blood of
others on my body but not mine. On arriving the hospital, the doctor asked me
some questions and discharged me almost immediately…
I am grateful for several other victories especially those in which I didn't need to fight.
Man remembers the past, God remembers the future.
My future
is in God's memory as my past is in mine. So, I rejoice at every of His promise and prophecy because they are not intentions, they are descriptions.
As I thank God on this my birthday, I also thank people like you that I am honored to know.
I appreciate all the prayers, calls, messages and well wishes. God bless you profusely.
May those who thought they knew you, begin to marvel at the new you by virtue of what God will do in and through you.
I'm grateful.
