CHAPTER EIGHT

THE POWER OF ATTITUDE

Nothing devalues skill and commitment like wrong attitude.

The greatest men in the Bible were not made by strength or might, but by their attitude. Abraham was made by his attitude of obedience. Moses was made a leader because of his meekness. David's courageous attitude gave him victory over Goliath. Obedience led Jesus to the cross, which in turn led him to the throne. Power didn't make him, attitude did.

The nature of a tree determines the fruit it bears. Your nature is what makes way for your future. Every great altitude stems out of a right attitude.

It takes more than strength or skill to scale through in life; so you must cultivate the right attitude.

There are four aspects of human life where you need to cultivate a right attitude: attitude to life, attitude to God, attitude to work, and attitude to money.

ATTITUDE TO LIFE

You played no role whatsoever in your existence. If you don't embrace the gift of life, you stand to be disgraced. Every murmuring against God paves way for destruction. He made you, so you must maintain an attitude of gratitude to your Maker, for the privilege of existence, so He doesn't withdraw the breath He gave you.

Apart from appreciating God for your life, an understanding of what life means will help you make your life count.

Life can be defined as the art of living; and its evidence is in contributions.

When you stop making contributions to your world, you are no longer living; you are merely existing. Stones exist, but have no life, because they do not make any contributions of their own. Life is about contribution, not consumption; it is about relevance not significance.

Life is not about getting from people, but it is about giving out to people - reaching out to them. Life is about service, not status; it is about sacrifice not surplus. It is about giving, not just receiving. It is your giving that provokes your receiving.

We are blessed primarily to be a blessing to our world.

When you are not being a blessing to your world, life soon becomes miserable.

Life is about responsibility. The right attitude to life is a responsibility that we owe our destiny.

ATTITUDE TO GOD

God is a loving Father, not a collector, and he proves His love by meeting our needs. Don't ever think you are giving to help God, as He will never need your help.

God is our only dependable rescue. He is too big to require human support, so when you assume a supporters attitude, He may turn his back on you.

With a right attitude to God, you easily get Him committed to your cause; and if God be for you, nobody can be against you. Remember, divine presence is your greatest asset in the race of life.

ATTITUDE TO WORK

Nothing happens until you make it happen. Your attitude to work will determine your ultimate worth in life. When work becomes your hobby you soon become a high flier.

Slaves wait to be forced to work or be supervised to perform. You must realize that any skill you acquire on your job is an investment into your future.

If your attitude is that of just working for somebody else, it is negative and will not enhance your worth.

You must work to learn, and not just work to earn. Working to learn makes you a leader, whereas working to earn makes you a slave. Cheap money is a bait for destruction. There is dignity in labor, it is the Creator's design to enhance our worth in the journey of life.

ATTITUDE TO MONEY

Once again, I assert there is no magic about money; it is essentially a medium of exchange for goods and services. So if you are not providing goods or services, you are not qualified to enjoy financial fortune.

Money is only a blessing if you have it. It becomes a curse if it has you. Money in the hand is a blessing; but if it gets into the heart, it becomes a curse, because the love of money opens you up to all kinds of evil. It is a form of cancer to destiny.

Money is placed in your hands to enhance your stewardship to your world, not just to enlarge your possessions like the biblical rich fool.

Money is essentially for doing good, being rich in good works; not just for accumulation. There is one thing you cannot overdo, it is called "good"!

The bigger your capacity to bless, the greater the level to which you will be blessed. That means you are the one who determines the extent to which you are blessed. As you keep dreaming genuine financial stewardship dreams, God is committed to continually build you up.

Remember, money without adequate financial light is money soon gone; so get informed on its uses.

CONCLUSION

A change does not just occur, a change is effected.

CHAPTER SEVEN

THE POWER OF COMMITMENT

God first gave man a job before he showed him what to eat. God does not talk about food until he has talked about work.

The garden you don't keep and dress is not permitted to offer food to you.

When you have one rich man in the midst of six poor people, what you have are seven poor people.

TAKE RESPONSIBILITY

No matter the promise of God on your life, if you don't work, it will never come to pass.

Isaac didn't prosper on the platform of his father's wealth, he prospered through the work of his hands.

Abraham was a hard worker; Isaac, a tireless worker; and Jacob, a creative worker.

There is a time to pray and a time to work. There is a time to even watch Christian television, and a time to read your Bible.

There is dignity in labor. Idleness is an enemy of destiny; don't give it room.

Many givers have not experienced a change of position because God does not throw money down to people from heaven. He only prospers the work of your hands. If you're doing nothing, there is no channel through which God can bless you.

BENEFITS OF WORK

Work is God's antidote against all manner of weakness and sickness. Work is God's device for healthy and strong living.

Another benefit of commitments is creativity. When you are committed, you're naturally creative; ideas start flowing to enhance your approach on the job.

I don't see work as punishment, but as "polishment". I see it as God polishing my life, causing it to shine by the privilege of work.

"You cannot pour yourself into your work and not be successful. Not pouring yourself into your work and expecting success it's like attempting to pluck a star out of the sky."

You are either a worker or a beggar. It is a clear choice that we need to make.

We cannot rebuild by praying and fasting alone, neither can we rebuild our lives by only reading the Bible every hour of the day; we can only rebuild it by working it out. Nothing is more impactful than your examples. When you start working, your children will follow suit, their own children will plug into it as well; and before you know what is happening, you have a responsible lineage.

CHAPTER SIX

THE POWER OF SKILL

No purpose has a future without skill. Many of us have discovered our purpose, but we are not equipped to deliver it.

The quality of your skill is what determines the quality of your output.

Only experts excel; and expertise is a product of training and personal development.

Mere certificates hold little or no value in the market today, it is what you can do that sells.

Training, whether formal or informal is a device through which skill is acquired.

No matter where you are, skill will announce you.

The Bible likens our destiny in life to that of a builder, a farmer, a soldier, a sportsman, and a trader.

AS A BUILDER

Every pursuit in destiny is like putting up a structure; and we all know that the beauty of your building is a function of your expertise.

AS A FARMER

It is your expertise that determines the quality of harvest you get. Every "common sense" farmer would only get "common sense" results. It's takes special sense to get a special harvest.

AS A SOLDIER

The world is no more threatened by the size of your army but by its skill. If we are soldiers, we need skills, so we don't get killed in the war front.

AS A SPORTSMAN

Every professional sportsman has a coach, who is heavily paid to enhance his training for expertise in his chosen sport.

AS A TRADER

Money without financial literacy, someone says, is money soon gone.

Skills have to be consciously acquired, either formally or informally. When you leave your life to chance, you don't have a chance.

Time spent in acquiring skill is not time wasted; it is time profitably invested. Nothing happens by chance. You cannot accomplish your purpose without first engaging in the travail of training.

DON'T MAKE NOISE MAKE MOVES

You need to acquire up-to-date skills in order to maintain a leading position. The race of life is not a function of strength but of skill.

Build on your expertise, and the world will respect you for it. You don't have to make noise to make news. As a matter of fact, the more noise you make, the more of a nuisance you are likely to become.

It's time to make moves for needed skill acquisition so you can begin to cause waves in your field and begin to make news in the ultimate.

THE POWER OF IDEAS

Ideas are thought products.

Ideas are mental virtues accessible mainly by thinkers.

Ideas are, therefore, the exclusive reserve of addictive thinkers.

Every star is a thinker, and every committed thinker is a potential star.

It is the tasking of the senses that command success. At the root of every gain is the use of the brain. It is brainwork that make things work.

The more you task your brain, the greater the ideas you generate, and the greater the results you command.

When you stop thinking, you start stinking, because it is the thinkers' world.

Thoughts are mental treasures, but are highly volatile.

Isaac became wealthy through divine ideas. He became the first irrigation farmer.

An inspired idea can turn any man to the envy of his world.

Nothing in the world compares with the potency of inspired ideas.

HOW TO ACCESS INSPIRED IDEA

Meditation is one of the vital breeding grounds for inspiration.

Meditation is staying mentally focused on an issue, until the nitty-gritty of it are unfolded to you.

Remember, we are not the light of the Church; we are the light of the world! We are not the salt of the Church; we are the salt of the earth. We have to get back there and influence those places through inspired ideas.

INVEST TIME

Without setting time apart to reason, your rising is not in view.

You don't know true investment until you learn time investment.

The more time you have for reasoning, the more insight you gain, and the greater results you command.

Time is an invaluable asset. Unfortunately most people are abusers of time.

When you go out for eight hours, you must be accountable for at least six of those hours. So stop spending time, start investing it! Every time investor invariably ends up an inventor.

If you want to be a partaker of this outpouring of inspired ideas, you need to set time apart to calmly sit down and calculate your options, and chart a course towards a destination.

Re-organize your office hours to include a reasoning time.

Thinkers invent things that bring improvement. Every time you are committed to thinking, what you are actually doing is programming for improvement.

THE POWER OF PREPARATION

No matter what your goal is, whatever your purpose in life may be will require your personal preparation to ensure a speedy actualization.

Outstanding performance in the future is a product of qualitative preparation today.

Preparation entails planning, programming, and seeking for necessary helps.

The quality of one's preparation determines the quality of his result in any examination.

Safety is not guaranteed in the air without adequate and detailed checks on the ground.

Planning

Planning can be defined as a step-by-step design towards the accomplishment of a given task.

Praying without planning is playing without knowing. And planning without programming is living in the woods, while programming without pursuit is dining with the dead.

WHAT PLANNING ENTAILS

The planning process begins with fact finding and intelligible arrangement of such facts is what is called planning. We can only plan effectively with facts. That is, identifying the essential issues involved in achieving a given task, and strategically placing such facts in the most appropriate place to achieve the desired goal.

The time you spend in planning is not wasted time; it is time invested, because the quality of your planning determines the speed at which you accomplish your goal.

PROGRAMMING

Programming dictates the steps. Programming schedules the actions; it is essentially about timing the required action towards accomplishing a set goal.

SEEKING FOR NECESSARY HELPS

First looking out for resource materials where relevant facts can be gathered.

Secondly, seeking help from above through prayers.

This is the position: we plan with facts, program with sense, and pray with faith.

God never plans for anyone; it is every individual's responsibility to plan.

Planning is a non transferable responsibility. There is no substitute for it.

Preparation must be comprehensive before you can obtain outstanding results.

For every set objective, no matter how divinely inspired, preparation is a non-negotiable factor, if it must be actualized.

FINANCIAL PREPARATION

There is a place for financial planning in the pursuit of any purpose. Everyone needs to be financially literate for a successful adventure in life. You will always have something to do with money as long as you're living here on earth.

Therefore, no matter how spiritual you are, to pretend that money is not essential is to make a mockery of destiny.

Man's dignity naturally demands financial resources.

One unique truth about the Bible is that there is no management principle from Harvard, Yale or anywhere else under heaven that compares with the principles contained in it.

Applied gospel is the world's last hope.

WHAT IS MONEY?

Money can be simply defined as a medium of exchange for goods and services. There is nothing mystical about money It is neither a product of chance or luck; it is simply the end product of goods and services.

Cheap money erodes human dignity, whereas money properly earned enhances his value. There is no shortcut: money is either earned or should not be expected.

The first thing to do in your financial preparation is to seek to be adequately financially informed for the pursuit of your goal.

If you can think enough what you have is enough to set out with.

You do not need money as much as you require financial skills.

I am talking about being in touch with the investment opportunities around you and how to invest wisely.

It is important not only to build resources for the pursuit of your purpose, but to also develop adequate financial management skill of the same. God will not put in your hand more than you are capable of effectively managing.

You need to be constantly aware of your economic environment in order to become financially successful.

THE POWER OF PURPOSE

You did not just happen; you were created. You are, therefore, not a child of circumstances.

Life without a bearing is a burden.

Men of purpose are known to be men of impact.

MANUFACTURED BY GOD

Many people are frustrated because they have not cared to discover what they were designed for.

A discovery of what you are created to do is called purpose. Doing what you are created to do is what makes you become what you are created to be.

Finding what you are created to do and doing it will turn you into a man and woman of value.

Purpose is what gives meaning to life. You are only guaranteed to get the best of results doing what you are created to do.

If everywhere is your destination, you are sure to get nowhere. Life is a journey, and only those who have a definite destination record progress. Only those going somewhere ever get anywhere. Anyone going everywhere gets nowhere, for there is no such destination as "everywhere".

DISPOSITION TO SERVE

It is not what you want to be that matters, but what you are created to do, the reason for your existence, that matters most.

Purpose does not target position, but is designed essentially for contribution. It is not designed for status, but for service. That is why only service oriented dreams ever see the light of day.

Discovery of purpose is essentially a discovery of your area of service.

Service is the only way to actualize your purpose and fulfill your destiny.

True greatness is a product of genuine service. It is your degree of commitment to service that determines your ultimate height in the race of life. The power of purpose is manifested in service.

Visionary Encounters

A heavenly vision can also be delivered through prayers of enquiry.

God is committed to leading us in the way to go and teaching us the way to profit.

Natural Endowments

A discovery of such deposits in most cases is a pointer to the task you are created to undertake in life.

Your passion can be defined as things that get you emotionally caught up in your actions and reactions to certain things or issues.

You are either running with a vision, going on a mission or burning with a passion.

Living for self makes a slave, but living for others makes a leader.

Spiritual Bearing

Most Christians crash when they allow a little success to disconnect them from God.

When you stop seeking God, you start sinking in the sea of life. Remember, it is His purpose you are running with, not yours and you sure must require His backing.

Visionary Bearing

Not every good idea is God's idea.

If you keep pace with God, you won't lose your peace.

Every child of God who does not desire mishaps on the journey of life must always crave to be led by the Lord.

Role-Model Bearing

Find out those who have gone ahead of you in the area of your discovered purpose, and link up with them, particularly with the secrets that made them.

It takes having role models to play your role well.

DARE TO DREAM

Great men always live in the reality of their future ever before they arrive there!

If you cannot dream it, you may never dare it, and if you will not dare it, you cannot damn it. A dream in this context is defined as the mental picture of the future.

It is your mental picture that defines your actual future, for as a man of thinks in his heart so is he. Show me a dreamer indeed, and I will show you another leader in the making. Every great dreamer ends of a world changer.

THE POWER OF INFORMATION

Nothing empowers like knowledge. To be informed is to be transformed; and to be uninformed is to be deformed.

Information is both the gateway for man's advancement and the cure for all his frustrations.

You cannot fail with facts.

There is no substitute for information in your quest for a change of position; not even intercession can substitute for information.

Being informed is not just knowing something, it is possessing a working knowledge of that thing.

Information is any bit of news that influences your thoughts and actions.

Nothing creates a future like the revelation of scripture. Why? Because it has an inherent force within to bring about transformation in all areas.

Your speed in life is determined by the quality of information at your disposal, and the level of insight with which you are operating.

How far you can see determines how far you can go.

You cannot go beyond the information at your disposal. The brighter you see, the faster you go. The more informed you are, the greater the results you command.

I see information as the currency of destiny it determines your purchasing power in the market of life.

DON'T STOP LEARNING

The news you acquire determines the moves you generate, and the moves you generates determines the waves you cause, which determines the news you make. It is a continuous cycle.

Abraham Lincoln said, "I don't think much of any man who is not wiser today than he was yesterday."

We live in a changing world so you have to keep pace with current knowledge. If the information at your disposal is obsolete, then it cannot produce any current results. I want to believe that tradition is the worst enemy of civilization, because it has no regards for current knowledge.

Henry Ford said, "anyone who stops learning is old, either at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young." That is, to keep one's mind open to new insight and information that will help in generating solutions to bugging issues.

Information demands discipline.

Nobody is responsible for where you are, but you; not even the devil.

READERS ARE LEADERS

No matter your calling, profession, or career, without relevant information you don't have a future. You don't become a man of impact by wishing; you only become one by learning what it takes to do exploits.

It has been proved beyond any doubt that committed readers are those who become great leaders. You cannot lead anyone if you don't see ahead.

Dedicated readers and information hunters are the ones that become great leaders. Remember, common sense at its best will only produce common results.

Everyone aiming for an outstanding future must be committed to rubbing his little mind with greater minds, thereby becoming sharper by the day.

To be a man and woman of impact, you must be committed to an insatiable hunger for ever-increasing insight in your field.

"You will be the same that you are this year in five years time, except for two things - the books you read and the people with whom you walk.

Study, if you don't want to be ashamed. No matter your field of endeavor in life, if you are not studious, you are heading for shame without knowing. A time will come when the things you are saying will no longer be relevant to the needs of people around you. Nothing transforms like information; and it takes meekness to be committed to the art of learning.

THE BOOK OF THE LAW

Without references you don't become a reference. Without information, no one truly has a future. Information will reduce your religious struggles.

The Bible provides a dignified guide for your journey on earth.

Nothing is more valuable than insight in the journey of life. Don't leave your life to chance, leave it to viable choices, and make your choices based on sound information.

The largest room in the world is the room for improvement.

CHAPTER ONE

THE COST OF CHANGE

There is no rise without a price. No one succeeds by accident.

I believe it is time we accept full responsibility for the change we desire, lest we perish as liabilities.

In my view, every blame on governance is rooted in a bad citizenry, after all, the leaders are chosen from among the people. It is only a responsible citizenry that can produce a responsible leadership.

it is time to begin to empower the people through the transmission of life-applicable and life-transforming information that will motivate them into action and turn them into world changers.

Only those who are willing to pay the price ever win the prize.

Things fall on their own but a force is required to enforce a rise.

I agree that some things do change with time but I also know that time itself changes nothing.

Waiting for a change without doing anything makes no sense; it is the application of relevant forces that guarantees a change for the better.

There will never be a rise without a price.

I believe discipline is the capital price you pay for every desired change. Discipline in my view, can be defined as doing what is required to get what is desired. It is doing what is demanded not what is convenient.

George Washington said "Discipline is the soul of an army; it makes small number formidable, it procures success to the weak and esteem to all."

I believe discipline is the key to success.

Every man is the cause of 75% of his problems. If someone else has a share, he can only be responsible for a maximum 25% of the blame.

A failure would have still failed with or without anyone's help.

Only those who believe in the need for change remain in charge.

If you are through changing, you are through.

"Stubbornness and an unwillingness to change is the energy of fools"

"He that will not apply new remedies must expect new evils"

There cannot be a change for the better without a cost.

Mahatma Gandhi said, "we must strive to become the change we want to see."

Someone else also said "Example is not the main thing in influencing others; it is the only thing.

It is time we stopped wishing for a change. Let's start working at it.

Socrates said "anyone who will move the world, must first move himself"

It is only changed men that become world changers.

Someone has said, and I totally agree with him, that, "You are not a failure until you look for someone to blame for it".

We are backward, not because we are black, but because we have been blind.

A blind man has no value for the treasures around him.

It is high time we come out of our deplorable state and positively change our identity by first improving our lot as individuals; it is a developed people that result in a developed nation.

It is time to take our destiny in our hands, and make the most of it.

In my opinion, when you give a man purpose, he will be committed; get him committed, and he will be creative; if creative, he becomes productive; when productive, he becomes successful, and when outstandingly successful, he becomes impactful!

Anyone can make the most of his life. You can make your life count; anyone can enhance his worth. All you need is to acquire the relevant information, coupled with the intelligible application and a sense of mission. This will result in outstanding success and impact.

Zig Ziglar said "just any dummy can succeed, if he cares to know what it takes."

Every change begins from within.
